Song Wheel

Putting all the spokes in your teaching wheel!

I’ve been teaching music for over 30 years, most of it in elementary.  Besides elementary, I’ve taught at the middle school, high school, community college, and university levels.

In the middle of my career, I took some time off to be with my children.  Soon after going back to teaching, I did the greatest thing and took Orff Level classes.  I completed Level III at Anderson University several years ago and it cemented some things I had always been doing and added a whole other facet to my teaching repertoire.

In 2003, I began teaching in the urban district, Indianapolis Public Schools.  I’ve taught at several different elementary schools with the most recent teaching at the CFI magnets. CFI, Center for Inquiry, offer the primary and middle years International Baccalaureate Programs.  I am having the time of my life with these inquiring students.

The purpose of this blog is to show all the media that can go with a song; audio, video, lesson plans, bulletin board ideas, manipulatives, books, web sites and anything else you might need.  Instead of spending lots of time doing all the research, hopefully this will be your only stop.

  1. What a great website! I feel blessed that we get to have you at CFI 84! I’m looking forward to learning more and exploring the website. I play African drums, so please let me know if you ever want a guest visitor. My son, Sebastian Alford, loves music class. I hope you have a great year!
